"Kilty as Charged":
The Real McKenzies with Brutal Youth and No Brainer

Scottish-Canadian Celtic punk legends The Real McKenzies brought high spirits and full bellows for a rowdy St Patrick’s Day celebration in Calgary last Sunday night. Joined by Toronto pop-punk rockers Brutal Youth Calgary’s No Brainer and Pagans of Northumberland, this lineup brought an unrivalled fast-paced, high-energy performance and plenty of jovial camaraderie for fans.

Pagans of Northumberland kicked off the night, warming up the crowds for a quick set before No Brainer took the stage.

Toronto-transplanted Newfoundlanders Brutal Youth came in quick succession, blasting fans with their signature fast-paced hardcore punk. Musically, their performance was tight, aggressive, and bursting with an energetic atmosphere that resonated in their live performance. Frontman Patty O’Lantern gave the crowd this and more: leaps, backflips, and an intense physical stage performance that left us asking ourselves “How much cardio do we need to match this dude’s energy?”

The Real McKenzies needed no introduction : Long-established legends from North America’s 90s Celtic punk scene, the Scottish-Canadians donned their finest kilts and bagpipes for a crowd-pleasing set of their greatest hits.

The music and atmosphere combined made for a show we won’t soon forget – we couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day.

While the tour’s now wrapped up, be sure to catch these bands in a city near you!
