Calgary’s MacEwan Hall brimmed with hearty pirate energy as Alestorm, Twilight Force, and Greyhawk delivered a night of inflatable ducks, power, and fantastical myth.
THE OPENER: Greyhawk
Joined by power metal powerhouse Striker’s Dan Cleary on vocals, Seattle’s Greyhawk kicked off the night with a set that was packed with energy, incredible musicianship, and a ton of crowd energy. Notably near the show’s beginning, the band briefly put the spotlight on their touring audio engineer to acknowledge how much work goes into the show’s production behind the scenes.
THE SECOND ACT: Twilight Force
Sweden’s Twilight Force transformed MacEwan Hall into a fantasy realm of magic and adventure. Known for their self-described “adventure metal” approach, the band combined symphonic power metal with elaborate costumes, theatrical storytelling, and dazzling musicianship. Their larger-than-life performance felt less like a concert and more like stepping into a high-fantasy epic brought to life.
THE MAIN ACT: Alestorm
Few bands embrace pure fun as unapologetically as Alestorm. The Scottish outfit has built its reputation on a boisterous blend of folk metal, power metal, and pirate-themed absurdity, turning every show into a raucous singalong fueled by infectious hooks, tongue-in-cheek humour, and seafaring chaos (with added inflatable ducks for good measure).
