First up is ILLUMISHADE, a relatively new symphonic/progressive metal project founded by Eluveitie’s Fabienne Erni and Jonas Wolf alongside keyboardist and orchestrator Mirjam Skal, drummer Marc Friedrich, and bassist Yannick Urbanczik:
Austrian symphonic metallers Visions of Atlantis sailed the seven seas, making an inland stop in Calgary to sing their siren songs to the sold-out Dickens Pub. Taking on a theatrical approach, the band put on an impressively tight performance that held our attention from beginning to end:
Last and not least, Finnish folk metal pioneers Korpiklaani headlined the night, performing an extended set of fan favourites and tracks from their brand new release, Rankarumpu:
The music and atmosphere combined made for a beautiful night with incredible music. Be sure to check out the Rankarumpu Tour in a city near you (while you can)!
